ROTH Certified Trainer

Rachel Austin

Forever Student of the Horse

As a small animal holistic veterinarian, I have always sought out a more open-minded approach to animal care. After searching for a different way to be with horses—one rooted in understanding, trust, and communication rather than control—I found my way to ROTH: Reach Out to Horses.

It began with the ROTH wild mustang foal gentling program and quickly became a turning point for me. My lifelong passion for horses deepened as I learned how to truly listen, be present, and gently guide an untouched mustang toward trust.

Adopting my own mustang afterward only fueled my passion for continued learning. Mustangs may have been the doorway, but it is all horse disciplines that continue to inspire me to spread the methodologies to the public. Now, as a certified ROTH trainer, I hope to bring this approach not only to my own horses, but to other more traditional disciplines such as show jumping.

I also see my future in helping rescues and adopters of wild or rescued horses navigate gentling and behavioral challenges—giving horses a voice, building trust, and a partnership.
